Who is a good fit?

You are working with a therapist, maybe you found a great group, but have you found your dietitian? An essential part of comprehensive eating disorder care is working with a dietitian; they help do the on the ground work, so to speak, of dealing with the food. But what is a dietitian and what role do they serve on an eating disorder team?

What is a Dietitian?

A dietitian is a health professional who helps you make choices about the food you eat. At Nourish The Heart Counseling, our dietitians are here to guide you toward a balanced and intuitive approach to eating.

How Can a Dietitian Help You?

Our dietitians work from a Health at Every Size (HAES) and Intuitive Eating (IE) model to help clients develop a different relationship with food. These approaches focus on your overall well-being and developing a less rigid relationship with food. We understand that everyone is different, and our goal is to help you develop a relationship that works for you. We take a non-weight centric anti-fatphobic approach.

Here are some ways our dietitians can assist you:

  • Personalized Meal Planning: Together, we’ll create a meal plan that fits your preferences and lifestyle. It’s not about strict rules; it’s about finding joy in nourishing your body. Not everyone will want a meal plan or need one – but for those that do, working with a dietitian can be very helpful.

  • Food exposures and challenges: Our dietitians can help you discover a variety of foods that bring both pleasure and nutrition. We believe in reintroducing foods that may have been eliminated from your diet and an all foods fit model.

  • Education and Support: Receive information and support on topics like nutrition, food myths, and creating a healthy relationship with food.
