Clinical Training in Eating Disorders & Related Mental Health Concerns

Nourish The Heart Counseling offers a structured and enriching externship experience for exceptional doctoral-level students in clinical, counseling, or school psychology programs. Our program is designed to support the development of clinical skills within a warm, collaborative, and specialized telehealth setting focused on eating disorders and co-occurring mental health concerns.

Training Overview

Externs receive supervised clinical experience in individual psychotherapy, intake assessment, and mental health crisis intervention. Our clients span diverse backgrounds, and our team provides trauma-informed, inclusive care through evidence-based modalities. Training is offered virtually through secure telehealth platforms.

Program Details

  • Training Director: Dr. Joy Zelikovsky, Psy.D., CEDS-S

  • Length of Placement: 9–10 months

  • Start Date: August (Orientation)

  • End Date: May (with option to continue through June for additional hours)

  • Time Commitment: 16–20 hours/week (typically two 8-hour days and one 4-hour day)

  • Caseload: Approximately 8–10 individual therapy hours per week

  • Supervision:

    • 2 hours of weekly individual supervision

    • Informal support and "curbside" consultation available as needed

    • Supervision conducted via secure video platforms with use of live observation, audio, and video review
